Normally the longer you cook meat in a crock pot, the more tender it becomes.
I'm sure this is true for the first 12 or even 24 hours.
I found out you can make your own jerky by accidentally leaving a roast cooking for 36 hours, the last 12 without any liquid whatsoever.
I also found out it still smells delicious, especially to the dogs who it becomes only fit for.

how the heck did you forget about meat for 36 hours? Also, I did something similar in our apartment with chili on the burner while we were at church. we had to leave the windows open day and night for a week in the middle of January!!!! Even the neighbors came over to make sure the apt wasn't on fire because of the smell!
