Spring Break

Sadly Daddy had to work for most of the kids break from school but at least the weather was nice.
Then as the weather turned cold and rainy Daddy took Friday off and we traveled away for the weekend.
We told the kids we were headed to Goblin Valley.
D and I have both been there and forgot that the kids, who have never seen pictures of that part of the dessert, might mistake the name Goblin for a scary place.
Whoopsie.
No wonder they were a little nervous to leave.

After a not too long( trying to stay positive here, any amount of time with the 6 of us in the truck is too long!) drive in the truck we made it to the sunshine.
 Ahh! The dessert!!
 D. and his camera. When the wind whipped up(inevitable in the dessert) it ended up under his shirt, hiding from millions of sand particles.
What a great place to take the family, and it was only scary a few times.
 Z. and T.

 N.
 Daddy and S.
Why am I sitting around? The option was to go inside a tall thin dark cold dusty cave. Sitting was the better choice for me!
 D. coming out of the cave crack. He was covered in sand. Fun for him.
I did it! She spent a long time looking for a place she could climb that mom would allow her and she wouldnt be terrified and need rescuing from. By the second day she was a pro.

 Z. and T. work their way up something fun and dangerous. Sandstone is deceiving. Under your feet it seems to give you extra grip while climbing up. The trick is that the rounded rocks are very slippery and the same sand that helps you grip also ends up giving you terrible sand burn scrapes when you slip and slide going down.

 N. has the right idea. The temps were perfect and the overhead clouds that came and went were great.

Cutie on a Goblin. The kids prefer to call them Mushrooms. Is she wearing Flip Flops and Socks?!

What a great place, especially when daddy carries your water bottle for you.

Climbing and exploring.
Z. likes the soft slick mud. She was a little embarrassed that I would take a picture of her playing in mud. Of course i'm going to post it!
This was at the campspot we found not far from the State Park. It was a cool little canyon out of the way of the road. We were hoping that by being in a canyon the wind wouldnt find us. Duh! It was a giant windtunnel!

N. found that smashing rocks against eachother is almost as fun as videogames. Almost.
Snacking in the truckbed, attempting to find a spot out of the wind.

Mallows in the windy canyon were an adventure. One second the coals were perfect and so was the mallow. Next second the wind would create a bonfire and the coals became a torch. S. had the hardest time, check out her attempt to help her flaming treat. Blowing on it? Really?

Quick trips down south in the Spring are the perfect way to recharge and remember that winter wouldnt possibly stay forever and that trips with our own family are Awesome!
